SectorGo is a game about places, not about people at places. Nobody should be able to use this app to learn where you live, where you go, or where you are. Here is exactly how that works, in plain language. Last updated 2026-09-13.
Rule 1
Sectors are held by a faction (Verdant, Cobalt or Ember), never by a named player, everywhere anyone else can see: the app, this website, share cards and search results. Only you and your crewmates see that a sector is yours. Crew tags appear only for crews with 8 or more members, so a tiny crew can’t be a nickname for one person.
Rule 2
Other players see a sector’s strength as a band (strong, holding, weak, fading), never the exact number, and the last claim as a date, never a time. Your actions show up in a sector’s history for other people only after 24 hours, by day, as your faction. There is no feed, notification or live signal that says a specific person is somewhere right now.
Rule 3
When you make a move, the app sends your position once so the server can check you are within 50 metres. The server records which sector, how far away you were and your GPS accuracy, then forgets the coordinates. Nearby lookups send a coarse map cell about a kilometre across, not your position, and never put location in a web address.
Rule 4
Your action history is kept for 30 days, then folded into simple counters (how many times you acted at a sector, and the last day) and deleted. Counters idle for 90 days are deleted. Devices not seen for 60 days are forgotten.
Rule 5
SectorGo is for players 18 and older. At sign-up you enter your date of birth; we compute your age, keep only “adult”, and discard the date. Anyone younger is refused, their account is removed, and we remember the refusal for a year so a second try with a different date doesn’t work.
Rule 6
Every rule above is checked by the server, not the app, and pinned by an automated test suite that fails the build if a rule regresses. This page is the plain-language version of the threat model we build against.
| Data | Kept for | Who can see it | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign-in identity (Apple or Google id, or your email address) | Until you delete your account | Only SectorGo | Sign you in; recover your account |
| Email sign-in codes | 10 minutes, stored hashed | Nobody | Proving you own the address |
| Username, faction, score, energy | Until you delete your account | Username and score: everyone, on leaderboards. Faction: everyone, on sectors you hold. | The game |
| Range (one lifetime total of the distance between your moves) and today’s travel bonus | Until you delete your account | Only you | Rewarding you for going places. There is no per-trip history and no route: the server only ever compares the sector of one move with the sector of the next |
| Age | Only the bracket “adult”, until you delete your account | Only SectorGo | Keeping the game 18+ |
| Your moves (sector, distance, GPS accuracy, time) | 30 days, then counters only for 90 idle days | You: in full. Crewmates: which sectors are yours. Everyone else: faction and day, after 24 hours. | Scores, your own history, abuse detection |
| Your coordinates | Never stored | Nobody | Checked once for the 50 m rule, then discarded |
| Push notification token | 60 days after last use | Only SectorGo | Sending you notifications you opted into |
| Blocks and reports you file | Until you delete your account; reports are kept for review | Only SectorGo and its reviewers | Safety |
| Purchases | Kept as a financial record without your identity after deletion | Only SectorGo | Entitlements and refunds |
If you ever feel unsafe because of something that happened around this game, please contact local emergency services first. Then report it to us.
A sector’s current faction and strength band are live, because the game needs them. Someone watching one sector continuously could notice the band change and infer that “a Verdant player acted here”. With no name attached, that is not a tracking signal on its own, and we rate-limit and attest devices to make city-wide watching expensive. We also cannot detect someone following you in person unless they are also playing. What we can promise is that this app never gives them your name, your routine, or your location.
